NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA – In their inaugural season in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), Berea College brings the USCAA Director’s Cup home to Kentucky. The Mountaineers took part in seven USCAA National Championship events, while competing in two USCAA National Championship games. Berea College finished the year with 601.5 points while last year’s winner, Daemen College, finished second with 480 points. Finishing in third place this year was Rochester College with 465 points.
The Mountaineers finished as runner-up to Daemen College in Women’s Division I Basketball and runner-up to St. Mary of the Woods College during the Softball National Championship. Additional USCAA National Championship events the Mountaineers participated in were Golf, Volleyball, Men and Women’s Cross Country in the fall and Division I Men’s Basketball in the winter.
Daemen College secured second place by winning three of the four USCAA National Championship events in which they competed. In the fall, the Wildcats won the USCAA Golf National Championship by seven strokes. In the winter, Daemen College’s men and women’s basketball teams each won championships. On the men’s side, the Wildcats defeated Rochester College while the women defeated Berea College. Lastly, the Wildcats finished as runner-up to rival University of Maine at Fort Kent during the Women’s Soccer National 4Championship.
Rochester College finishes third in the Director’s Cup standings for the third consecutive year. Competing in five USCAA National Championship events, Rochester finished runner-up in three tournaments, as they fell seven strokes short in the Golf National Championship, and falling in the finals of the Volleyball and Men’s Division I Basketball National Championships. Rochester College also participated in the Men’s Soccer and Baseball National Championship events.
The Director’s Cup points are awarded for the number of sport offerings and are also based on results from USCAA National Championship events. The final top-20 Director’s Cup standings can be found below:
