Field for 2012 Softball National Championship Finalized
For Immediate Release

Newport News, VA – The field for the 2012 USCAA Softball National Championship has been finalized. Gaining bids are Carlow University, Lindenwood University-Belleville, St. Mary of the Woods College, Spalding University, Briarcliffe College, St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn), Penn State University-Mont Alto, and Penn State University Athletic Conference champion and host institution, Penn State University-Beaver.

Carlow University enters the 2012 Softball National Championship as the number one seed in the tournament. The Celtics, NAIA’s American Mideast Conference Champions, led the USCAA Coaches Poll in every week of the season. Chasing Carlow will be the second-seeded Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx who are making their first ever appearance in the USCAA Softball National Championship. Lindenwood-Belleville is leading the USCAA’s Director’s Cup standings and a solid performance in Akron could wrap up the race.

The championship also features five teams making their second consecutive trip to Akron; last year’s runner up St. Mary of the Woods, Spalding University, St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn), Penn State-Beaver, and Penn State-Mont Alto. Perennial USCAA softball power Briarcliffe College returns to the field in 2012 after a one-year hiatus. The complete bracket with game times and seeding can be found below.

The 2012 USCAA Softball National Championship will be in Akron, Ohio at Firestone Stadium May 15th through the 17th. If you would like more information on USCAA Softball or the Softball National Championship please visit this page.
