Andrews University clinches back-to-back Men's Division II National Championships

UNIONTOWN, PA- The Andrews University Cardinals successfully defended their USCAA Men’s Division II Basketball National Championship by beating the Berkeley College-New York Knights by a score of 72-58. The third-seeded Cardinals were led by All-American Tyler Wooldridge who had 28 points (10-18 from the field) and garnered Tournament MVP honors. All-American Jerome Murray added 18 points for Andrews.

The game was a tale of two halves. The Knights led at halftime 39-33 after shooting 54 percent from the field. Their largest lead of the half was 11 points. Andrews began the second with an 11-2 run to take a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the game. The Cardinals shot 48 percent in the second half and dominated the paint with 44 points. Berkeley College-New York was paced Jose Stable with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Danzel Whyte and Elijah Craig added 10 points apiece for the Knights.

Andrews Head Coach and Athletic David Jardine is in his second year with the Cardinals and already has consecutive National Championships on his resume. “This is unbelievable. We worked hard and looked out for each other. We gelled well this year and have great chemistry on the court” said Jardine. Andrews University becomes the first school since Williamson (’08, ’09) to win consecutive Men’s Division II National Championships. Congratulations to the Andrews University Cardinals!
