Championship Game

World Harvest Bible College (54) vs. Williamson (51)

Saturday, March 6, 2010 - 7:00 p.m.

Box Score

After three days of competition, only two teams remained standing in the Men's Division II Championship bracket. Amidst a packed house, the wildcard World Harvest team took on the two-time defending Champions Williamson. 

Led by senior Davar Watson, Williamson jumped out to the early advantage, holding the lead until the final minute of the second half. Led by two back-to-back "and 1" plays by Brandon Clack, World Harvest took the lead 52-51 with one minute remaining in the game. After a missed opportunity by Williamson, Nehemiah Trotter hit a driving shot to put World Harvest up by three. Williamson had one last chance to tie the game with 15 seconds remaining, but a missed Nate Armstrong three point attempt as time expired sealed the win for the Warriors 54-51.

Brandon Clack led the Warriors with 20 points, while Nehemiah Trotter added 15 in the win.

Davar Watson led Williamson with 21 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

Third Place Game

UC Clermont (79) vs. PSU DuBois (62) 

Saturday, March 6, 2010 - 12:00 p.m.

UC Clermont was able to finish strong as they took down Penn State DuBois 79-62 to take home the third place trophy.

UC Clermont dominated the glass outrebounding DuBois 59-41.

Jose Navarez led the Cougars with 20 points and 18 rebounds. Maurice McGee capped off a terrific tournament performance posting 18 points, four rebounds and four assists.

DuBois was led by Marcus Genevro, who paced the Lions with 27 points and five rebounds.

NHTI (70) vs. PSU Wilkes Barre (57)

Saturday, March 6, 2010 - 12:00 p.m.

Box Score 

NHTI, led by coach Paul Hogan, put on a strong performace as they knocked off PSU Wilkes Barre 70-57 in the Maltho Arena.

NHTI was led by Syla Besfort who contrinuted 16 points for NHTI in the victory. Ahntwaun Hattis also pitched in 14 for the Lynx. Wilkes Barre was led by Shawn Washington, who pitched in 16 points in the loss.

World Harvest Bible College (65) vs. UC Clermont (64)

Friday, March 5, 2010 - 8:00 p.m.

In the final game of the night, in-state rivals World Harvest and UC Clermont faced off with a trip to the 2010 USCAA Championship Game on the line. Both teams came out firing, and neither dissappointed as the two battled it out to a last minute 65-64 victory in favor of World Harvest.

Nehemiah Trotter and Brandon Clack both scored 16 for World Harvest in the victory. Jose Navarez led UC Clermont with 16 points and 17 rebounds. 

UC Clermont struggled shooting the ball, only managing to shoot 29 percent from the field. World Harvest faired much better converting 47 percent of their shots from the field. 

World Harvest (3-0) will advance to play Williamson (2-0) for the 2010 USCAA Championship on Saturday at 7 p.m.. The game will be broadcast live on the YouCastr website. UC Clermont (2-1) will move on to play Penn State DuBois (1-1) in the third place match.

NHTI (94) vs. University of Maine Augusta  (76)

Friday, March 5, 2010 - 8:00 p.m.

NHTI advanced to the fifth place consolation bracket final with a convincing 94-76 win over conference foe U Maine Augusta.

The Lynx received strong contributions from Besfort Syla and Ahntwaun Harris.  Syla contributed 21 points, four assists and six steals.  Harris added 18 points for NHTI.

NHTI will face Penn State Wilkes Barre at 12 p.m.on Saturday for fifth place.

U Maine Augusta was carried by the duo of Jawaan Stalling and Moses Braithwaite, with 18 and 17 points in the contest.   

 

 

Penn State Wilkes Barre (57) vs. Penn State Beaver (55)

Friday, March 5, 2010 - 6:00 p.m.

Box Score

A late put back layup by Wilkes Barre's Frank Peters with ten seconds remaining was the difference as Penn State Wilkes Barre defeated Penn State Beaver 57-55 to advance in the consolation bracket.  They will play the winner of NHTI and U MAine Augusta on Saturday.

Peters led Wilkes Barre with nine points and 11 rebounds.  John Sanderson led all scorers with 15 points.

For Beaver, All-American Zack Fetchin led the way with 14 points and eight rebounds.

 

 

Williamson (66) vs Penn State DuBois (56)

Friday, March 5, 2010 - 6:00 p.m.

Box Score

The first Men’s Division II Semifinal featured top ranked Williamson versus Penn State DuBois. DuBois opened fast with an 11-2 run in the first four minutes and 34 seconds. From then on, it was all Williamson. Williamson went on a 29-6 run over the next 11:22 to lead 31-17 with 4:04 left in the first half. Williamson went on to win convincingly 66-56.

Williamson was led by Brian Campuzano who scored 18 points and recorded 10 rebounds. Marcus Genevro of DuBois led all scorers with 25. 

Willimason will get the chance to defend its Championship this year against the winner of the UC Clermont/ World Harvest game. The Championship game is scheduled to take place Saturday at 7 p.m.. The game will be broadcast live on the YouCastr website. DuBois will play in the third place game.

Penn State Beaver (60) vs. World Harvest Bible College (61)

In the last quarterfinal of the night, #2 PSU-Beaver took the court for the first time in the tournament to face #7 World Harvest Bible College for the chance to play in tomorrow’s semifinal game against UC Clermont. In a game that came down to the last seconds, World Harvest was able to survive a late push from the Lions to advance with a 61-60 victory.

DeShawn Knighten led World Harvest with twelve points and four assists, while directing the offensive attack from the Warriors. Zack Fetchin posted 15 points and eight rebounds for the Lions in the loss.

World Harvest (2-0) will move on to face UC Clermont (1-0) tomorrow in a semifinal matchup. The game will be broadcast live on the YouCastr website. PSU-Beaver (0-1) drops into the consolation bracket where they will play PSU Wilkes-Barre Friday at 6pm.

 

 

Williamson (72) vs. U Maine-Augusta (57)

Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 8:00 p.m.

Top seeded Williamson began their quest for a repeat as they knocked off a feisty U Maine- Augusta team 72-57. Williamson controlled the game from the opening tip, only receiving a minor threat from U-Maine Augusta in the second half before they finally pulled away with ten minutes remaining in the game.

Three Williamson players finished in double figures with Kareen Walls leading the way with 20 points and ten rebounds. All-American Moses Brathwaite had a strong performance for
UM-A recording 19 points and 23 rebounds on the night.

Williamson (1-0) will move on to face PSU-DuBois (1-0) tomorrow at 6 p.m. for the chance to play in the 2010 USCAA National Championship Game. The game will be broadcast live on the YouCastr website. UM-A (1-1) will drop down into the consolation bracket where they will face NHTI (1-1) at 8 p.m. tomorrow evening.

 

 

NHTI (87) vs. Penn State Fayette (61)

Thursday, March 4, 2010 - 4:00 p.m.

NHTI took advantage of a 53 point second half and 19 points from Ahntwaun Harris in taking down Penn State Fayette 87-61.

NHTI led by three points at the half (34-31), before taking advantage of five second half three pointers and numerous fast break opportunities to open the game up.  Matt Cloutier added 18 points for the Lynx, connecting on four three pointers.

They will advance in the consolation bracket to play either Williamson or U Maine Augusta.

James Pratt paced Penn State Fayette with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

 

 

 

Penn State Wilkes-Barre (70) vs. Central Maine CC (69)

In an exciting matchup, Penn State Wilkes-Barre outlasted Central Maine CC in overtime with the help of Colin Nurse's 26 points.

In a game that featured several lead changes and physical play, it was only fitting that extra time would be needed to decide the contest.  With Wilkes-Barre leading 62-65, Cam Angell hit a three pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime.

In the extra period, Wilkes-Barre held Central Maine to only one basket, and received key shots from Nurse and John Sanderson in holding on for victory.  Frank Peters added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Wilkes-Barre.  They will advance to play either Penn State Beaver or World Harvest Bible College on Friday at 6 p.m..

Central Maine received 17 points and 11 rebounds from Tyler Smithgall, and 13 points from Angell.

 

 

UC Clermont (70) vs. Central Maine CC (61)

Wednesday, March 3, 2010 - 10:00 p.m.

Led by A.J. Frazier's six three pointers, UC Clermont was able to hold off a late rally from Central Maine CC to take a 70-61 victory in the last game of the evening. 

Central Maine, which trailed by 14 points at the half (38-24), recovered in the second half and eventually tied the game at 56 on a Matt Sceviour three pointer with four minutes left.  Clermont responded with several key foul shots and assists from guard Kraig Unger as they pulled away down the stretch.

UC Clermont's Frazier led his team with 20 points, and Unger contributed 16 points and eight rebounds.  The Cougars will advance to the semifinals on Firday to face the winner of Penn State Beaver and World Harvest Bible College. The game will be broadcast live on the YouCastr website.

All-American Tyler Smithgall turned in a stellar performance for Central Maine with 25 points, 16 rebounds and six assists.  

 

World Harvest Bible College (87) vs. Penn State Fayette (72)

Wednesday, March 3, 2010 - 8:00 p.m.

In the first men's game of the evening, World Harvest used a high scoring first half to run past host Penn State Fayette, 87-72.

Four World Harvest players reached double figures, highlighted by Nehemiah Trotter's 21 points and five assists.  Brandon Clack added 12 points and 10 rebounds.  World Harvest will advance to play #2 seed Penn State Beaver at 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Penn State Fayette received 21 points and four assists from guard James Pratt.  Michael Speelman contributed 18 points with six three pointers.  Fayette will play NHTI in the consolation bracket at 4 p.m. on Thursday.  

 

 

Penn State Dubois (76) vs. NHTI (68)

Wednesday, March 3, 2010 - 10:00 a.m.

In their first round game, Penn State Dubois was able to hold off a second half NHTI comeback to advance with a 76-68 victory. 

Dubois led 47-33 with 16 minutes left in the second half, before NHTI cut the lead to two with four minutes remaining aided by full court defensive pressure and guard Besfort Syla's six steals. 

Over the final four minutes, NHTI struggled to find the basket and Dubois' Josh Salter scored five points including a key thee pointer to preserve the victory. 

Dubois' scoring ws paced by Chris Dickinson (26),Josh Salter (19), and Marcus Genevro (18).  Dickinson also collected 15 rebounds for Dubois.  They will advance to the semifinal round on Friday to face the winner of Williamson and University of Maine Augusta. The game will be broadcast live on the YouCastr website.

NHTI was led by Ahntwaun Harris with 19 points, and Jared Green contributed 15.  

 

 

University of Maine Augusta (73) vs. Penn State Wilkes-Barre (68)

The 2010 USCAA Basketball Championships kicked off this morning in snowy Pennsylvania with a first round match-up between Division II opponents Maine-Augusta and Penn State Wilkes-Barre.  Despite the early start, both teams came out firing. In a back and forth battle, Maine-Augusta was able to outlast Wilkes-Barre 73-68.

Maine Augusta captured the early momentum, going up 29-16 with 7:40 to go in the first half. By halftime, Wilkes Barre was able to cut the lead to 31-30. Early in the second half, Wilkes Barre looked to be carrying momentum, until a Jawaan Stalling led Maine-Augusta team exploded to take a 59-45 lead with 5:05 to go in the game.

Wilkes-Barre was able to put together one last impressive comeback, but was never able to cut the lead to less than three points. Maine-Augusta will move on in the winner's bracket to face #1 seed Williamson tomorrow at 8 p.m.. Wilkes-Barre moves into the consolation bracket to face the loser of tonight's match-up between UC Clermont and Central Maine CC.

Maine-Augusta was led by a 31 point performance from Jawaan Stalling. All-American Moses Brathwaite also added 21 for UMA. Penn State Wilkes-Barre was led by John Sanderson's 23 points.
