Football to Become Sponsored USCAA Sport

Football to Become Sponsored USCAA Sport

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Newport News, VA - United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Executive Director Bill Casto announced on Monday that football will be added to the list of USCAA sponsored sports starting this fall.

Football will be a recognized as an Emerging Sport with the association as 10 of the 91 member schools play the sport.  This fall the USCAA will recognize statistical leaders, Players of the Week and an All-Academic team.  In 2013, the association will recognize a national All-USCAA team and sponsor a post-season championship game.

“With 10 of our 91 members offering football, we want to be able to give the same opportunities for recognition to the football playing schools that we give the other sports within the association,” said Casto.  “Our association believes that all athletes and programs deserve the same opportunities as larger institutions. The mission of the USCAA is to provide that to all recognized sports.”
