NEWPORT NEWS, VA- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association's (USCAA) Cross Country Championships are next week at the Eddy Pond located on the NHTI-Concord campus. The event hosts the USCAA's best runners from across the country, competing for both All-American and team awards.
Paul Hogan, NHTI's athletic director, has set forth an aggressive recruiting effort to make this year's cross country championships the largest in USCAA history. The combined effort of the USCAA and the NHTI staff has resulted in several individual entries along with the participation of 14 teams. The tournament is formatted so that each team designates ten runners to compete. Scoring is then determined by the place of the top five finishers for each team, with two pushers. All participants are automatically entered into the individual competition, where the runners are placed in the order they finish. The top seven overall finishers in each event will be awarded All-American honors.
