Daemen College Leads after Day One of the 2014 USCAA Golf National Championships

STATE COLLEGE, PA – It was the largest field at the USCAA Golf National Championship, and after day one the Daemen College Wildcats find themselves in familiar territory. The two-time defending National Champion Wildcats finished with a 308 on the day, and lead the second place Rochester College and Cleary University by eight strokes. Rounding out the top five at the halfway point of the tournament are SUNY Delhi (319), and SUNY Canton (322).

Daemen College is being paced by freshman Mark Lesinski, who carded a 73 on the day, tied for the overall lead with Cleary University’s Devin Young. Jered Maloney is second on the Wildcats, and tied for seventh overall, after carding an opening round 77. Jake Yartz and Mitch Feneziani are tied for 13th overall after shooting a 79 on day one.

Rochester College is led by Mason Motte, who finished day one tied for fifth overall with a 76. For the Warriors, Joe Wandel (79) and Chet Ryeson (80) also finished in the top 20 in the individual standings. After Young, Hogan Samples (80) and Mitch Cleary (81), Robert Niemy (82), and Jeff Kidd (82) paced the Cleary University Cougars.

Tied for third in the individual medalist standings are Zach Meade from SUNY Canton and Chris Eckes from University of Dallas. Meade, the seventh place finisher from year ago, is looking to earn a second straight All-American trophy.  You can view the full leaderboards by clicking on the links below.

The second round starts at 9:00 AM on Tuesday at the Penn State Blue Course.
