Day 1 Results: 2018 USCAA Golf National Championships

The first day of the 2018 USCAA Golf National Championships is in the books. The Penn State University Blue Course played host to 125 participants vying for team and individual honors in the association’s signature golf tournament in State College, PA.

Pacing the field after Monday’s round is St. Mary of the Woods College with a round score of 283. The Pomeroys, who finished third in last year’s tournament, were 5 under for the round. In second place is the defending National Champions, SUNY Delhi who shot 291 on the day. Rounding out the top three is Cleary University with a 295. Mississippi University for Women, SUNY ESF, and The Apprentice School are tied four fourth place in the field after shooting 299 during the round.

The individual leader at the midway point is Sean Barron from SUNY ESF, who shot a 4-under 68 during Monday’s round. Penn State Mont Alto’s Austin Green and a pair of St. Mary of the Woods golfers, Colton Kuppler and Ben Myers, are tied for second after shooting 70. Kuppler is back in the field after earning medalist honors in 2017. Rounding out the top-5 individually are Nathan Higbie from St. Mary of the Woods and Aaron Oliver from SUNY Delhi, who are tied after shooting a 71.

Leading the USCAA Women’s Golf l Invitational leader after day one are Alison Angoglia and Erin Schowerer from SUNY-Delhi after shooting an 81 on Monday. Full team and individual round scores are linked below. The second round of the tournament begins on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM.
