Dallmann started his career at DMLC in 1964 and remained at the school through 1995, when it became Martin Luther College (MLC) until 2008. Along with his duties as Director of Athletics and coach, Dallmann also taught in the Physical Education department throughout his tenure, teaching Physical Education, Health, and other upper level PE courses.

Dallmann’s interests outside of athletics include hunting, fishing, and training hunting dogs, which he did professionally for 25 years. In 2013, Dallmann published a novel titled White Fox, Dakota Warrior.

Dallmann credits many for helping him throughout his career, including his wife, Diane, as well as his five children. He resides in New Ulm, Minnesota, where he has lived all but one year of his life.
