Spalding University Captures 2008 National Volleyball Championship

Spalding University captured their first USCAA National Championship Saturday evening at the 2008 USCAA Volleyball National Championships in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Spalding defeated defending national champions, Florida College, in three sets (25 - 18   ; 25 - 13; 25 - 23).  The Golden Eagles were led by freshman Paige Dellis who put away 14 kills and 3 aces.  Sophomore setter Allison Woosley contributed to the Spalding attack with 44 assists and  libero Heather Maier scooped up 16 digs.  Abby Morris had 4 blocks, including the match-ending point. 

For their efforts, Allison Woosley and Paige Dellis were named to the All Tournament Team.  Dellis was the tournament's Most Valuable Player. 

Spalding won 5 games in the tournament and lost only one other set.   Spalding University captures their first National Championship in only their second season in the USCAA.
