ESPN Radio to Broadcast Softball National Championships

Newport News, VA – The USCAA is proud to announce its partnership with ESPN Radio Williamsport 104.1 FM and 1050 AM for the 2011USCAA Softball National Championships.  The tournament will be held in Akron, Ohio and will be played at Firestone Stadium, home of the professional softball team ,the Akron Racers.  All games being played on Field One will be broadcasted and with a play-by-play announcer.  The championship game and the third place game will also feature a color analyst.  "Having previously broadcast the 2009 USCAA Baseball National Championships in Hampton, Virginia it was easy decision to reconnect with the USCAA on such a meaningful project", said Todd Bartley, General Manager, ESPN Radio Williamsport.  The eight team double elimination tournament will begin this Friday morning, with the first pitch slated for 10:00 am est.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the championship series scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm est. 

ESPN Radio Williamsport is currently home to the athletics programs at Penn College, Lycoming College, Mansfield University and Wilkes University.  Also serving as the flagship station of the Williamsport Crosscutters Radio Network, the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The network includes affiliates in Bloomsburg, Troy, Towanda and Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania.
