Newport News, VA – The final spot in the USCAA National Softball Tournament was filled following Penn State Mont Alto’s victory in the Penn State Athletic Conference tournament final on Saturday. The Lady Lions victory over Penn State Hazelton in the Championship game opened the door for Penn College to earn the last available spot in the field of eight. Penn College will be joining Rochester, St. Mary of the Woods, St. Josephs (NY), Penn State Beaver, Spalding, Judson, and Mont Alto, all of whom accepted bids last week for the tournament.

This year’s tournament returns to Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio, home of the Akron Racers, a professional softball team. After both Rochester and St. Mary of the Woods ended their regular seasons tied atop the USCAA Coaches Poll, the Lady Warriors occupy the top seed at the tournament, while the Lady Pomeroys will be the second seed. The tournament will begin Friday morning at 10:00 with the Championship series (best of three) scheduled to begin Sunday afternoon at 2:30. The tournament seeds are listed below:
