SOUTH PORTLAND, Me. - The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team volunteered their time on Tuesday, September 25th with a local girls youth soccer team. JuniorLauren Rafford (Bangor, ME), sophomore Ali Waterman (Cumberland, ME)and freshmen Erica Desjardins (Saco, ME) and Michela Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) participated in drills and games with the U-12 South Portland Strikers coached by Rich Penny.
SMCC Head Coach Adam Perron was excited about the community
service opportunity for his student-athletes. "It is important for
our athletes to realize the positive impact they can make in the
lives of young, aspiring athletes," stated Perron. "I look forward
to connecting with other recreational youth clubs within the
area."
Both the Seawolves and the Strikers worked up a good sweat, but one can bet they'll only remember the smiles.
