2016-17 Post-Winter Director's Cup Standings

NORFOLK, VA – With the 2017 USCAA Basketball National Championships having concluded last month, the USCAA has announced the second round of standings for the 2016-17 Director’s Cup race. The chase for the cup is neck and neck, with under a month until the 2017 USCAA Spring Championships.

Edging out the Florida College Falcons for the number one spot, are the Berea College Mountaineers with 522.5 points. The Mountaineers rose from fifth-place in the fall to the top spot in the standings by way of a second-place finish in women’s basketball and a tied for third finish in men’s basketball. The Falcons trail by a 11.5-point margin. The Florida College men’s and women’s basketball teams earned points this winter, continuing a trend this year in which each Falcon team has earned attendance to a USCAA National Championship.

The Mighty Oaks of SUNY-ESF fell to third-place in the latest edition of the Director’s Cup standings. While the Oaks did not earn additional points this winter, their point total remains high due to the performance of the school’s cross country and soccer teams during the fall.

SUNY-Delhi and the University of Maine Fort Kent round out the top five in the Directors Cup race. SUNY-Delhi obtained the fourth spot by way of a men’s cross country National Championship and strong showings in women’s cross country and golf in the fall. University of Maine-Fort Kent is home to the 2016 USCAA Men’s and Women’s Soccer National Champions, and added points this winter from a strong showing in Men’s Division I basketball.

Director’s Cup points are awarded for number of sport offerings, attendance at the USCAA National Convention, and results from USCAA National Championship events. The top 20 Director’s Cup standings are linked below.
