2016-17 Winter Director's Cup Standings

NORFOLK, VA – With the winter season in full swing, and just over a month out from the 2017 USCAA Basketball National Championships, the USCAA has announced the first round of standings for the 2016-17 Director’s Cup race.

For the first time, it’s the Florida College Falcons holding the top spot in the standings. The Falcons fall season consisted of five National Championship appearances, including men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s and women’s soccer. Highlighting the fall season for the school was the Lady Falcons volleyball team, which took home a third straight National Championship. Florida College has a total of 456 points following the fall season.

Trailing Florida College by a margin of just five points is SUNY-ESF (451 points). The Mighty Oaks’ women’s soccer team earned a second-place finish in the 2016 USCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship, individually receiving the most points of any Mighty Oak fall sport. Four other teams from SUNY ESF earned points this fall for their championship performance, including men’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, and golf.

The Broncos of SUNY-Delhi sit in third place in the 2016-17 Director’s Cup standings with 400.8 points. The school is home to the 2016 Men’s Cross Country National Champions. The Broncos also scored points with appearances in the 2016 USCAA Golf, Women’s Cross Country, Men’s Soccer, and Women’s Soccer National Championships.

Cleary University and Berea College round out the top five in the Directors Cup race. Cleary scooped up points during the USCAA’s inaugural Fall National Championship Week event with their women’s cross country team winning the National Championship. The Mountaineers from Berea College placed second in both the men’s and women’s cross country races, solidifying a fifth overall spot after the fall.

Director’s Cup points are awarded for number of sport offerings, attendance at the USCAA National Convention, and results from USCAA National Championship events. The winter standings will be updated following the 2017 USCAA National Basketball Championships. The top 20 Director’s Cup standings are linked below.
