Basketball All-American, National All-Academic, and End of the Year Award Information and Deadlines

Nominations for Basketball All-Americans will open tomorrow, February 8^th at 9:00 AM EST. Nominations will close on Monday, February 13^th at 12:00 PM EST. All-American voting begins on February 13th at 2:00 PM EST and closes on February 16^th at 12:00 PM EST. 

It should be noted, once the system closes out nominations on February 13^th those nominations are locked. It’s not possible for our office to add names after that point. Please don’t delay in designating your nominees.

For basketball, three nominations per team are accepted. You should only nominate players from your own team. Nominees MUST have played in at least 75% of your team’s games to receive full consideration. You will have a chance to evaluate other team’s nominees during the voting phase. Instructions for the voting phase can be found below.

Additionally, nominations for the USCAA Basketball National All-Academic team were opened last week and Coach of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year awards will be opened tomorrow.

National All-Academic nominations will be accepted until Friday, February 17^th at 12:00 PM EST. Nominations for Coach of the Year and Student Athlete of the Year close on Monday, February 17^th at 12:00 PM EST. Please see the chart below for all nomination deadlines.

For all the awards noted above, the USCAA will be utilizing PrestoSports' online awards platform. Below you will find instructions on how to access and use the system to complete your nominations and votes.

To log into the system, click this link. Your login credentials are the same login institution’s use for reporting and Player of the Week nominations. If you are having issues with your user name or password, contact michael.goodman@theuscaa.com. If you are having any other problems with the system, please contact PrestoSports at support@prestosports.com.

All-American Nomination Instructions

Once logged in, you will be able to see all the available nomination categories. Click 'nominate' on the respective award you wish to submit (awards will be divided by division). You will then choose your team from the drop down menu. If your team is not shown, please upload your roster into PrestoSports. From here you will see all your players and their cumulative yearly stats. The stats shown are based off your reporting submissions. Click the select button on the left-hand side corresponding to the player you wish to nominate. Please nominate as follows.

Basketball: Three nominations per team will be accepted.

*To be considered for first or second team, players will be required to have participated in 75% of their team’s games. Those that are nominated and do not meet the 75% criteria will still be eligible for honorable mention recognition. 

All-American Voting Instructions

After the nomination process coaches will be able to log back into the system where they will have the option to vote on the nominations for their sport.

After selecting the option to vote on an award, users will see the name of each nominated player on the left-hand side of the screen. To vote for a player users will need to drag that player’s name into the box on the right that correspond to the level in which they are choosing to vote that player for. The levels of voting are First-Team All-American, Second-Team All-American, Honorable Mention All-American (notated in the system as Third-Team All-American) and unranked for player’s voters do not feel is deserving of All-American at this time. Voters should vote using the following structure.

Basketball:

10 First-Team All-America

10 Second-Team All-Americans

10 Honorable Mention All-Americans

When you are finished please press vote on the upper right hand corner to formally submit your selections. To see supporting information on a given nominee voters can click show details next to the nominee’s name. On the display that follows voters will see the player’s name, class standing, position, coaches’ rank, and their cumulative season statistics to consider in their votes.

*If you do not vote for 30 players, your vote will not count. Please make sure to cast a vote for 30 players using the format above.

National All-Academic Nominations

The USCAA accepts nominations for its National All-Academic Team for each sport offered by a member institution. Recipients of National All-Academic Team honors who are in attendance at the championship banquet will be awarded. All other student-athletes, and those awarded on the non-USCAA sport National All-Academic Team will receive their certificates through mail. 

USCAA National All-Academic Team Guidelines

• All student-athletes with 24 or more credits on their USCAA transcripts shall be eligible for the National All-Academic Team.
• Overall (cumulative) grade point averages must be 3.50 (on a 4.00 point system) or greater.

End of the Year Award Information

The USCAA offers three End of the Year achievement awards, listed below with applicable criteria.

Student-Athlete of the Year - One player is selected as the award recipient each year in each USCAA sport and division. The nomination process will allow institutions to nominate one player per sport/division. The emphasis of this award is on academics and community involvement, versus athletic performance. The award winner is selected by a committee comprised of National Office members, board members, and member Athletic Directors.

Coach of the Year - One coach is selected as the award recipient each year in each USCAA sport/division. Athletic Directors and coaches are permitted to nominate, but only one nomination will be accepted per school. The award will be selected by a committee comprised of National Office members, board members, and member Athletic Directors. 

Player of the Year - Awarded to the best player in the USCAA in each sport/division. The top five players in USCAA All-American voting are considered for this award, with the selection being made by vote of the All-American selection committee. Nominations for this award are not accepted.
