Norfolk, VA – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and 102 WVAQ partnered at the 2017 National Basketball Championships to raise money and awareness for the West Virginia Children’s Miracle Network Hospital (CMN). Over the course of the four-day tournament, 34 teams from across the country played a combined 39 games in Uniontown, PA. With every ticket sale, the USCAA donated a portion to the Children’s Miracle Network. The USCAA was pleased to raise over $500 for CMN at this year’s tournament.
“Working with the USCAA during the National Basketball Tournament is a wonderful partnership for WVU Medicine Children's and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals,” said Eric Blake, who is the Community Relations Coordinator. “Not only were we able to raise awareness and money to fund healthcare needs, all of the money stays local, so participants are helping women and children right in their own back yard. It was a fun partnership that we hope continues to grow stronger.”
CMN is a non-profit that helps more than 170 hospitals nation-wide that provide more than 32 million treatments each year for kids across North America. Morgantown, which has the closest hospital in its network to Uniontown, was the recipient of this year’s proceeds.
“We would like to thank our member institutions, their fans, and all locals who came out to support the 2017 USCAA Basketball National Championships,” states USCAA Executive Director Matt Simms. “Every person in the seats meant progress towards the treatment and well-being of a young person with terminal or life threatening illnesses.
