USCAA Welcomes University of Valley Forge and the Return of Selma University to the Association

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 22nd, 2017

NORFOLK, VA – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and its Board of Directors have announced the return of Selma University and addition of University of Valley Forge to the association’s membership for the 2017-18 academic year.

The University of Valley Forge was founded in 1939 near Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and offers over 50 undergraduate degrees with a full-time enrollment over 600 students. The Patriots will be a Division I member for men’s and women’s basketball, and also offer volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, golf, men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, and softball.

“The University of Valley Forge is very excited about being accepted into the USCAA!” stated Gretchen LeVan, Valley Forge’s Athletic Director. “We believe it is a great opportunity for our institution to provide our student-athletes a great experience of post season play on similar playing grounds. Thank you to the USCAA and Executive Director Simms for this great opportunity.”

Selma University will return to the USCAA membership following a three-year absence. The school is located in Selma, Alabama and were previous members of the USCAA prior to 2014. Selma University offers three USCAA sports, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.

“Selma University is honored and excited to once again being accepted for membership to the USCAA,” said Athletic Director Adrian Holloway. “We held membership and had great success within the USCAA for a number of years before administration decided to try another association. After three years we realized that our heart and best interests were with the USCAA. The USCAA is an awesome association for small colleges and universities. The USCAA is fair and shows love and respect to each and every one of its members, and that made the decision to apply for admission to the association a no-brainer when I became athletic director.”

“Selma University and the University of Valley Forge are ideal fits for USCAA membership” remarked the USCAA’s Executive Director, Matthew Simms. “We’re proud to have the chance to work with Selma University once again, and eager to create a lasting relationship with University of Valley Forge. We welcome both to the USCAA family.”

University of Valley Forge and Selma University were approved for full membership and are eligible for all post season opportunities immediately. The schools join Stratford University and Mississippi University for Women as the USCAA’s new member class for the 2017-18 academic year.
