NORFOLK, VA - The USCAA officially welcomes Clinton College to the association after having been confirmed by the Board of Directors in June.
Located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Clinton College is the oldest institution of higher education in Rock Hill. The College has operated continuously for 120 years after originally established by the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church during Reconstruction years. Today, the school has approximately 600 students on-campus and offers five Associate degrees and a Bachelor Degrees in Business Administration and Religious Studies.
“Our athletic department, administration, and college, as a whole, is extremely excited about joining the USCAA. Staff and faculty have expressed how proud they are. This move begins a new era for Clinton College,” remarked Clinton College Athletic Director, Larry Mullins.
Clinton College is dual-affiliate of the NJCAA and has fielded a men’s basketball program for more than 60 years and a women’s basketball team for 40 years. In addition to joining the USCAA, the school will join the recently formed Eastern Metro Atlantic Conference (EMAC). In addition to Clinton College, the EMAC will feature USCAA schools Johnson & Wales-Charlotte, Warren Wilson College, The Apprentice School, and Mid-Atlantic Christian and begin conference play during the 2018-19 academic year.
“Clinton College is an ideal fit for membership with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association,” stated USCAA Executive Director, Matthew Simms. “We look forward to working with Larry Mullins, the Clinton College coaching and administrative staff, and providing memorable experiences for their student-athletes. We welcome them to the USCAA family.”
Clinton College is the sixth new member added to the USCAA during the 2017-18 academic year, following the acceptance of four Bryant & Stratton campuses in the New York region, Liverpool, Albany, Buffalo, and Greece, as well as Penn State Shenango.

The primary goal of the USCAA is to provide members with an association that is devoted to the growth, vision, and values of their institutions. The USCAA’s focus is to enhance member institutions through athletics. The association intends to achieve this goal by providing opportunities for small colleges to compete on an equal level of competition with schools of like size and athletic programs. The USCAA conducts 15 national championships, names All-Americans, recognizes scholar athletes, and promote USCAA member schools in various means. The USCAA believes that the integrity and credibility of the association and its members is paramount in accomplishing its goal.
