Portland, Maine Selected as Host Site for 2020 USCAA National Convention

The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Convention is heading to Portland, Maine.  The association has reached an agreement with the Holiday Inn Portland-By the Bay to host the event in 2020 and 2023.  The 2020 National Convention will be held from June 7th-10th

The USCAA National Convention is an annual meeting of member institutions’ athletic directors, coaches and administrators.  The event includes guest speakers, professional development sessions, committee meetings, networking opportunities, sponsor and vendor displays, as well as social events.  Portland provides a new location for the USCAA with an abundance of sites to see.

The city of Portland is located on a peninsula located along the Casco Bay on the southern portion of the Maine coast.  The historic Old Port is a favored tourist destination in Portland.  The Old Port district is known for its 19th-century architecture and nightlife.  The city is recognized as the economic and social center for the state of Maine.  This year’s location provides the opportunity to visit many of the up and coming restaurants, which include many that are located along the Casco Bay.

The USCAA plans to diversify its National Convention sights with a three year rotation between the North, Mid-Atlantic and/or Mid-West, and South.  “This is the next step in our evolution as a growing national governing body,” states Executive Director Matt Simms.  “The three-year convention rotation will give the entire membership a better opportunity of attending the convention and will allow for a more diverse experience for attendees.”

Additional details on this year’s Convention, including a full schedule of event and registration information, will be made available later this Fall.  The USCAA encourages all member institutions to send a representative to the 2020 National Convention.
