USCAA Director's Cup Standings After Winter Championships

PITTSBURGH, PA – After an exciting winter sports season, the USCAA has updated the Director’s Cup standings for the 2023-2024 season. The Director’s Cup was established to recognize member institutions that excel in a wide range of men’s and women’s sports for which the USCAA offers championships. The Cup sets out to highlight the efforts of an athletic program that is diverse in its sport offerings and who competes for national championships on a consistent basis.

The standings consist of results from the 2023 USCAA Golf, Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country, and 2024 Basketball National Championships in addition to points awarded for 2023 National Convention attendance and current sport offerings.

Sitting in first place with 594.5 points is Lyon College. The Scots started off the year with a strong outing at the Penn State Blue Course, finishing first overall in the Men’s division earning 100 points. Picking up points for Lyon at Fall Championship Week were the women’s cross country team, as well as the volleyball team, who finished runners up. The men’s soccer team also finished tied for third for Men’s Dl Soccer Championship. Lyon College had an impressive showing at the Basketball National Championships as their men's and women’s teams got all the way to the DI Championship games before falling to The Apprentice School and Salem University.

Right on their heels in second place is Johnson & Wales - Charlotte with 555 points. The wildcats captured this year’s DII Men’s Soccer championship, beating Berkeley College for the title. They also showed strong outings in cross county and golf. Johnson & Wales women's basketball were the runner up's for the 2024 USCAA Women's DII Basketball tournament. 

Rounding out the top three schools is UC Clermont with 412.5 points. The cougars captured their first points at this year’s Volleyball championships at Penn State Fayette. UC Clermont had an impressive showing this fall at the men's and women's Soccer champioships with the women's team taking home the DII title. In addition, the men's and women's basketball teams picked up Director’s Cup points for the Cougars by finishing second and tied for third.

Next up is the Small College World Series in DuBois, Pennsylvania  May 12th-17th, 2024. The final Director’s Cup standings will be determined following the Small College World Series and the winner will be announced at the 2024 USCAA National Convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
