Former University of Maine at Fort Kent goalkeeper, Kamika Forbes, has earned a spot on the Boston Breakers reserve team, a Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team, after attending a try out earlier this month. With the starting goalkeeper for the Breakers leaving to join the women’s U.S National Team, Forbes will have an opportunity to earn the starting position this upcoming season.

“I'm very excited about the opportunity with the Breakers,” says Forbes. “Being a professional soccer player is something that I have dreamed about. Now I will have an opportunity to make that a reality.”

Forbes, who led the Lady Bengals to the 2013 USCAA Women’s National Championship, is a two time USCAA First Team All American.  Last season, she recorded eight shutouts while saving 74 of 80 shots on goal for a save percentage of .925 which led the USCAA.  Forbes is a native of Trinidad and Tobago and is also a member of the women’s national team.  Trinidad and Tobago is currently looking to secure a spot in the 2016 World Cup that will be hosted by Canada.

The Boston Breakers Reserves feature some of the top, recently-graduated collegiate talent in the nation as well as established players with semi-professional or professional experience. The Boston Breakers Reserves will train with the full Boston Breakers' National Women's Soccer League team and follow identical playing philosophies, learning to play 'the Breakers way'. The Reserves will play an exhibition schedule against other reserve teams as well as competing in the WPSL.
