Devon Dorsey reaches historical achievement, scores 2000th point

SUMMERDALE, Pa., December 18, 2014 ― Devon Dorsey, a Central Penn College senior and a leading scorer of United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) DII men’s basketball, scored his 2,000th career point during a November 24 game against Penn State Worthington Scranton.

Dorsey, from William Penn High School in New Castle, Del., is set to graduate from Central Penn in May with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration.

After the game, Dorsey received the game ball and a framed jersey of the jersey he wore when he first arrived at Central Penn College.

“Dorsey has been the face of our program for the last four years,” says Knights Coach Dave Baker. “He is currently ranked for the 2014-2015 USCAA DII men’s basketball individual leader board, averaging 24.9 points a game. He also is currently ranked third in the USCAA in rebounds and averages 11.6 rebounds per game.

Dorsey is now the leading scorer and rebounder in Central Penn basketball history.

“Dorsey has grown so much before our very eyes on the court, in the classroom and off the court,” says Athletic Director Ed Liesch. “Knowing what he had to overcome just to reach this milestone and receive his degree is inspirational for all of us.”

In addition to men’s and women’s basketball, Central Penn College offers women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s baseball.

USCAA Scheduling Message Board

The USCAA has created an all-new scheduling message board. This board will allow USCAA coaches to talk directly with one another to discuss scheduling opportunities, announce open dates, and advertise upcoming tournaments. We know that scheduling can pose difficulties for the small college, and we’re hopeful that this new feature will help bring USCAA schools together and assist in the scheduling process.

The message board has been placed on the USCAA website in each individual sport page under the heading ‘Scheduling Board,’ and can also be accessed via link at the below this story. Each school was distributed one user name and password to access the board. Please check with your athletic director for your institutions login information.
