Cave Earns 600th Win in Walk-Off Style

HAMPTON, VA - Apprentice School Head Baseball Coach Bryan Cave joined a select group of college baseball coaches on Friday night earning his 600th career victory in dramatic style.

Sophomore Collin Wilber smacked a one-out, two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning as The Apprentice School Builders (17-12) defeated Virginia Wesleyan College 9-7 on Apprentice Athletic Club Day at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton.

In a game that the Builders never trailed, but were tied four different times, Jacob Countiss hit a single in the bottom of the 11th with one out before Wilber came up and took

a 3-1 pitch over the left-field wall for the walk-off to win #600.

Cave, in his 26th season at the helm of the Builders, joins a group of 41 Division III-level

coaches with 600 or more collegiate wins.  Among active small college coaches in the state of Virginia, only Curt Kendall at Bridgewater College has more victories than Cave.
