Lady Warriors Honored by National Soccer Coaches Association of America

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the 2014 College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award winners for this past soccer season. Rochester College was one of 120 teams who received either the Gold, Silver, or Bronze version of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. Rochester was the recipient of the silver version for the second consecutive year.

The College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is given out to teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards that are administered by referees throughout the season. The Gold version is given out to teams that accumulate no cards during the season, The Silver version is given to teams that are given no red cards and accumulate less than five yellow cards during the season. The Bronze version is awarded to teams that accumulate no red cards and no more than 10 yellow cards during the season. Rochester College was the recipient of the Silver version of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award after receiving just four yellow caution cards on the season.

In all, eight teams received the Gold version, eighty received the Silver version, and thirty-two received the Bronze version.
Warriors head coach Todd Stank on the team's honor, "I am especially proud of the women's soccer team for being recognized for the NSCAA Ethics and Sportsmanship Award for the second year in a row.  I think it is a testament to our player's commitment of respect for themselves, the game, our opponents, and Rochester College.  To play a very competitive contact sport with all of the emotions that brings while keeping their composure in some very intense situations is reflective of the quality of student athletes we have in our program.  It is truly the players who have earned this award and deserve all of the credit," said Coach Stank.
