NHTI to Host 11th Annual Jacob’s Bridge through Autism Basketball Classic

CONCORD, NH – The eleventh annual Jacob’s Bridge though Autism Classic will be held on the campus of NHTI, Concord’s Community on Monday November 15.            

The event will feature Rivier College taking on Keene State College at 5:30 PM followed by Colby-Sawyer College squaring off versus Plymouth State University at 7:30 PM.

The annual classic is sponsored by the NHTI Athletics and Sport Management Departments in conjunction with all four colleges here in NH. Each year the classic helps to raise monies and awareness for Autism which affects 1 out of 150 youngsters born in the USA

Admission is $6 for adults and $2 for students will all proceeds befitting Jacob’s Bridge though Autism.

The series which features rosters loaded with former NH high school stars is also a challenge between four of the top NCAA division three men’s basketball programs in the state of New Hampshire. Rivier College joins the classic for the first time; they replace the Pilgrims of New England College.

The 2010 version will introduce Rivier College as the newest member of the contingent led by veteran coach Dave Morissette who played his college basketball at Plymouth State and his high school basketball at Central HS in Manchester. The Poitras brothers from Bow (Don & Tom) will play feature roles for Rivier along with former NHTI star Brian Lawrence of Exeter.

New PSU coach Damien Strahorn will coach his first college basketball game at NHTI with a Panther roster featuring former NHTI stars Ryan Lambert (Derry) and 6’8” Bill Stowell (Exeter).

“NHTI is very excited to once again serve as the host site for one of the best basketball events in the state of NH as well as helping to raise money for a very worthwhile cause,” says NHTI Athletic Director Paul Hogan.     

Keene State is 10-0 all time in the event, Plymouth is 8-2, Colby-Sawyer is 2-8, Rivier is 0-0 and NEC was 0-10.
