Mont Alto travelled about an hour south tonight to take on NCAA Division II opponent Shepherd University.  Although the Mont Alto men shot over 50% from the field tonight, and equaled their opponents in rebounds with 36, they couldn't stop the Shepherd Rams from the 3 point line.  Shepherd shot 31 times from behing the arc, and made 13 of them. 

Mont Alto went down early, going into the half down 54-34.  The second half proved a tougher fight from Mont Alto, as they were able to break into the deficit.  It wasn't enough for the visiting Lions however, as they came up short in the loss, 95-78.

All-American Jerome Evans (30) led Mont Alto in scoring with 19, including going 8 for 8 from the charity stripe.  Sharif Welton (11) added 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, while senior Jeremiah Mitchell had 14 poits and 7 rebounds.

Rams Morgan McDonald, Steffen Davis, Ryan McTavish, and Austin Cunningham all scored in double figures, with a combined 11-21 combined from the 3 point line.

Mont Alto will be back in action at the Montclair State University Team Hill Holiday Classic on the 26th and 27th of December, and will be back in action at home next on New Year's Day when they host Lynchburg College.
