Baseball Falls Short Against Dupage

MYRTLE BEACH, Sc – Penn State Schuylkill Baseball fell to College of Dupage in the first half of their Sunday doubleheader at the Ripken Experience.

Following an early score by Dupage at the bottom of the first, Schuylkill evened the score at the top of the third inning as a sacrifice fly by Conner Licklider (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School) drove in a run for Ryan Jarboe (Pottsville, PA / Blue Mountain High School). Dupage quickly regained the lead as a single at the bottom of the third gave them two runs.

Schuylkill narrowed their deficit to 4-2 following a run at the top of the fifth by Owen Zimmerman (Shoemakersville, PA / Hamburg Area High School). Dupage scored four points during the next two frames to take an 8-2 lead heading into the seventh inning.

As Chris Duffy (Perkasie, PA / Lansdale Catholic High School) occupied first base at the top of the seventh, Brenan Adams (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School) hit his first career home run and bringing Schuylkill within four. Schuylkill was unable to make the comeback as Dupage managed to force three outs.

Adams finished 3 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBIs for Schuylkill. Zimmerman finished 2 for 3 at bat with a double.

Schuylkill (2-2 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will take on Penn State Beaver at 3:00 p.m. in what will be the second half of their Sunday double header.
