Cabrini Pulls Away From Brandywine With Four-Goal Second Half

RADNOR, Pa. -- Cabrini University owned a 2-1 lead at the break and broke the match open with four scores during the final 45 minutes to defeat the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine goalkeeper Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) was tested early and often, making eight stops during the first half to keep the Lions within striking distance. She added one more stop in the second half, totaling nine overall on the day.

Behind early saves from Bush and Brianna Banks' (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) fourth goal of the season, Brandywine grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Banks' goal came as she followed her own shot and deposited the rebound into the back of the net.

Cabrini knotted the score at 1-1 eight minutes later and then took the lead for good at the 35:47 mark following a goal by Rachel Wood.

The Cavaliers netted three goals during the first 13 minutes of the second half and capped the scoring with a goal from Kelly Kane in the 77th minute, while stifling the Lions ' offense for the duration of the half.

Cabrini outshot Brandywine 15-3 and attempted all 13 of the match's corner kicks. Banks posted two shots on goal and Amanda Roy (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) accounted for the Lions' third shot on target.

Brandywine (0-3) begins Penn State University Athletic Conference action on Tuesday at Penn State Lehigh Valley, a first-year program, at 4:00 pm.
