Brandywine Rolls In Road Finale

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine reserves accounted for 38 points as the Lions dominated their final road game of the regular season, posting a 77-54 victory at Penn State Scranton on Saturday.

Brandi James (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) led seven reserves in the scoring column with 12 points, while Symantha Marrero (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) chipped in seven points along with seven rebounds.

Jessy Gledhill (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) produced her second-straight, 20-point effort and Cashae Hinton (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) posted 10 points and five steals.

With the victory, Brandywine locked up the No. 5 seed in next week's PSUAC Tournament. The Lions will travel to fourth-seeded Penn State Fayette Wednesday night for a 6:00 pm quarterfinal matchup.

Gledhill knocked down the first two shots of the game and later added a jumper that made the score 9-2 through two minutes. An 11-0 run spanning portions of the first and second quarters ballooned Brandywine's lead to 30-9 before Scranton chipped into the deficit, clawing within 11 at the break.

The Lions pulled away for good in the third quarter as James scored five-straight points to push the lead past 20 and Marrero knocked down a triple just before the stanza ended to hand Brandywine a 66-39 edge.

Brandywine shot just 31 percent from the field, but made 17-of-22 free throws and outrebounded Scranton 46-37. Scranton received 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists from Jordan Peters.
