Offensive Balance and Strong Free Throw Shooting Leads Women’s Basketball Past Potsdam, 66-54

Canton, NY – Four players scored in double figures and the Roos combined to shoot 79 percent from the free throw line as the women's basketball team earned a 66-54 victory v. visiting SUNY Potsdam in the final day of the Kevin Fee/Roos Classic on Sunday afternoon in the Roos House.

Caseylynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) led the Roos with 20 points and nine rebounds as she went 11-for-12 from the free throw line. Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) and Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) both recorded double-doubles. Terrance finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Laroche recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) tallied 10 points and Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.

SUNY Canton (1-2) went 30-for-38 from the charity stripe as a team with Fulton and Laroche combining to hit 19 of their 21 attempts. The Bears (1-3) finished with 19 more shot attempts in the contest than the Roos but the difference in free throw makes (30-5) and Roos rebounding edge (49-35) proved to be crucial.

The Bears jumped out to a quick start holding a 19-11 advantage after the first quarter of play. The Roos stormed back outscoring Potsdam by nine in the second 10 minutes to lead 30-29 at intermission. With the Bears leading 27-16 SUNY Canton closed the half on a 14-2 run.

SUNY Canton outscored Potsdam 36-25 in the second half en route to the 66-54 victory. The Roos had 17 offensive rebounds that led to a 24-5 advantage in second chance points, while also carrying a 24-16 edge in points in the paint. The Bears held the upper hand in points off turnovers (27-18) and bench points (20-12).

Secret Clark was the lone Bear in double figures with 13 points, while Janay Smith added nine points.
