Centenary College breaks through for three second half goals to defeat New Jersey men's soccer team 3-0

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team dropped its third consecutive contest on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Cyclones of Centenary College by a score of 3-0 in a match played in Hackettstown, New Jersey. With the victory, the Cyclones evened their mark at 4-4 on the year, while the Knights dipped to a record of 6-4.

After a scoreless opening stanza that featured just 11 total shots (eight by Berkeley College, three by Centenary), the Cyclones erupted for three goals in a span of 20 minutes in the second session before eventually going on to shutout the Knights.

Centenary College broke through in the 54th minute when Daniel Lamanna floated a ball to teammate Richie Castro who buried the ball home to give his team a 1-0 edge. The Cyclones increased their lead to 2-0 in the 62nd minute, as Kevin Brix scored off a corner kick taken by Justin White. White and Lamanna would have a hand in the final goal of the afternoon, as both players would record assists assisted on Josh Weiss' tally in the 74th minute.

Centenary out-shot the Knights 24-10 on the afternoon, including an 11-8 advantage as it pertains to shots on goal. White took five shots, while Brix attempted four and Luis Martin blasted three for the Cyclones.  Devon Warne recorded the shutout for Centenary College, stopping eight shots in 90 minutes of action.

Calvin Carbajal and Matthew Neto each recorded two shots apiece for Berkeley College.

The Knights will return to action on Friday, October 7, as Berkeley College will take to the road to battle the University of Maine at Fort Kent in a neutral site match. The match will take place at Fisher College, with start-time scheduled for 7:00pm.
