Lady Lions keep hot streak going against York

YORK, Pa.––The Penn State Beaver women's basketball team kept its conference record unscathed after a dominant 71-48 road victory against Penn State York Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore guard Alexis Cross (Columbiana) led the way for Beaver as she finished 15 points, five rebounds, two steals, and one assist.
Also finishing with double-digit points was junior guard Diamond Thomas (Pittsburgh/Carlynton), who scored 13 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds, followed by sophomore forward Jimya Chambers (Phoenix/Westview), who also contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
Sophomore forward Mikayla Womer (Jackson Center/Lakeview) had another impressive performance today, racking up 12 points, eight rebounds and one steal coming off the bench.
1st quarter: The Lady Lions got the ball rolling early by outscoring York 17-8 in the first.
2nd quarter: Beaver kept the momentum going in the second, outscoring York 19-11 to go up by 17 points before halftime (36-19).
3rd quarter: The Lady Lions never took their foot off the gas as they put up another 22 points while holding York to 13 to build a 58-32 heading to the final stretch of the game.
4th quarter: Beaver never looked back and won 71-48.
Box Score Highlights: The Lady Lions shot 25.9 percent from the field, hitting 21-81, 21.1 percent from 3-point range on 4-19 shots and 78.1 percent from the charity stripe, hitting 25-32 shots. Beaver also picked up 24 more boards (49-25) and six more assists (9-3) than York.
After tonight's win, the Lady Lions improve to an 8-2 record overall and sit at first place (6-0) in the PSUAC-Western standings. Beaver will now face off against Penn State DuBois for the team's next game on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The game begins at 6 p.m.
