Syracuse, NY-
The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Women's Soccer team concluded their regular season with a convincing 5-0 victory over SUNY-ESF. The victory improves the Lady Bobcats' overall record to 8-2-2 on the season.
How it Happened:
Before the match, the Lady Bobcats honored their Senior class who were competing at home for the final time. The four graduating Seniors recognized were Goalkeeper, Maria Gabriela Batista Cordeiro, Midfielder, Koemhong Hout, Striker, Traeniq Eddy, and Defender, Karel Welsh.
The Lady Bobcats used the positive energy from the pre-match festivities to start the match on the front foot. The continued excellent play from Masego Nfandiso was on full display in the first half as she scored a hat-trick before the break. Her first two goals were assisted from Marina Nawa and the last was compliments of a great through ball from Senior Koemhong Hout.
In the second half, the Lady Bobcats with a 3-0 lead continued to create chances and looked dangerous getting in behind the back-line of the Mighty Oaks. In the 75th minute of the match, Marina Nawa got on the scoresheet herself with a beautiful strike hitting the crossbar and dropping down just beyond the goal-line. Virginia Simon was credited with the assist on Nawa's 11th goal of the season.
The match finished on one of the highest moments of the season for the Lady Bobcats. Senior Traeniq Eddy, in her final match at home, found herself on the end of a deflected shot inside the box with nothing but an empty net left in front of her. Calmly, she knocked the ball into the back of the net for her 1st career goal and sealed the victory for the Lady Bobcats, 5-0.
"I could not be happier for Traeniq and the rest of our Senior class for the performance that they put in today," said Head Coach Alex Grigorita.
"With the win today, we have finished the regular season on a five-game winning streak and have continued to improve and get better in each match. Now, we will focus on sharpening our tactics and style of play as we look forward to the USCAA National Championship."
