Brandywine Completes Season Sweep Of York

MEDIA, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine finished off a two-game, season sweep of Penn State York on Wednesday night, claiming a 59-44 PSUAC women's basketball victory.

Brandywine opened up a 6-0 lead after two minutes and pushed the advantage to nine points after one quarter as Lauren Munro (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) sank her third basket of the frame. Munro's streak of 14 consecutive field goals made over the last three games came to an end early in the second quarter.

A Munro layup to open the second made the Brandywine lead double digits for the first time and Jessy Gledhill (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) drained a three-pointer to stretch the lead to 27-13 two minutes later.

The Lions held York scoreless over the final 3:36 to claim a 34-19 edge at the break.

Munro sank three buckets and Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added three points during a 9-0 spurt during the opening minutes of the second half. Encarnacion's trifecta with 7:46 to play in the fourth quarter gave Brandywine its largest lead at 24 points and the Lions would cruise to the finish.

Munro finished 8-of-9 shooting for a game-high 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds. She has connected on 24-of-27 shots from the field over Brandywine's last three games.

Encarnacion tallied 14 points and seven rebounds, while Gledhill registered 10 points. Cashae Hinton (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) recorded six rebounds and four steals and Chelsea Dent (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) produced six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Brandywine held a 63-40 advantage on the boards and limited York to 27 percent shooting. York, which made just 3-of-16 three-point attempts and 9-of-19 free throws, received 11 points and nine rebounds from Charizma Johnson.

Brandywine (14-8, 7-4 PSUAC) travels to Penn State Wilkes Barre Friday night at 6:00 pm.
