DELHI, N.Y. (December 5, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team had the College of Saint Joseph in check for most of Tuesday evening. The Broncos took as much as an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter, and persevered through a late Fighting Saints rally to chalk up an 86-83 victory. The win marked Delhi's second straight, continuing its hot start to go to 8-3 on the year.

The scoring trio of Samiaya Salley, Camryn McDonald and Kiera Holland wowed the home crowd by combining for 66 points and 30 rebounds. Salley recorded 24 points and eight rebounds, making two of Delhi's four 3-pointers on the night, while McDonald earned her seventh double-double with 21 points and an astounding 18 boards, including seven offensive. Holland racked up 21 points and four rebounds off the bench. Katie Herba added eight points, 12 rebounds and a team-high six assists, while Erica Cornmire tallied eight points and seven boards.

The Broncos took a 40-28 lead into halftime and a 66-53 advantage after three quarters. Delhi built its lead up to 18 at 74-56 with 8:21 to play, before CSJ was able to trim the lead to four on a Madison Akins layup at 81-77 with 2:15 to play. Both sides wound up empty-handed on their following possessions before Herba's jump shot gave Delhi some breathing room with 1:01 to go. The Fighting Saints would trim the lead to three on two more occasions in the final minute. Ahead, 86-83, with 11 ticks to play, the Broncos avoided catastrophe when they turned the ball over on a five-second violation, only to see CSJ's last chance at a game-tying three missing the mark and landing in the arms of Salley.

Delhi outrebounded CSJ by a 58-48 margin, and fared 22-for-35 from the free-throw line, compared to 9-for-18 by the Fighting Saints. The Broncos also forced CSJ into 21 turnovers for 24 points, and shot 41.4 percent from the field (30-for-73) to Saint Joseph's 39.8 percent (35-for-88). Both sides made four 3-pointers, with Delhi attempting 14 shots from long range and 22 for the Fighting Saints.
