Men's Soccer win in Double Overtime
September 14, 2014
Unity, ME- In a fairly even match, Vermont Tech prevailed on the lone goal of the game by Raven Hudson (Royalton, VT) 3:36 into the second overtime of the match. The late goal was the first on the season for Hudson.
Yohan Avila (Barre, VT) took the ball out of the air near the mid-field as he split the defense and sent a perfectly placed through ball for Hudson to run on to for the shot. Unity's defense scrambled as Hudson ripped a low hard shot to the far post, just out of reach of Unity's keeper Brandan Wallace.
Wallace had 15 saves for the Rams, while Darian Calverley (Attleboro, MA) recorded his second shutout of the season for Vermont Tech with seven saves on the day.
The Vermont Tech Men's Soccer program has had its best start in years with a record of 4-1-1. "The men's soccer program has worked hard from the start of the season" mentioned Coach Wennar, "The players are committed to change the culture of the program and it is showing in our record."
