Lions Take Two At Scranton Quad

SCRANTON, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine cruised in both matches during the Penn State Scranton volleyball quad match on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Penn State Wilkes Barre 3-0 (25-5, 25-11, 25-6) before knocking off the hosts 3-0 (25-6, 25-3, 25-7) in the nightcap.

Forty-five of Brandywine's points on the day came from service aces led by Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn), who totaled 17. Stark also dished out 54 assists during the pair of victories.

Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) recorded five aces during each match and compiled 12 digs, with a match-best nine coming against Penn State Wilkes Barre. Rikelle Taylor (Nottingham, Pa./Solanco) topped the team with four blocks, while Margot Gargus (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) tallied six digs during both games, Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) added nine digs and Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) totaled seven digs.

Offensively, Gargus paced the team with nine kills against Scranton and 14 overall on the day. Poissant collected 12 kills, while Kelly registered 10 and Taylor amassed eight.

Brandywine (18-2, 11-0 PSUAC) travels north again on Sunday for matches against Penn State Lehigh Valley (2:00 pm) and Penn State Hazleton (4:00 pm) on the campus of Lehigh University.
