Brandywine Downed By Centenary In New Jersey

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Centenary College drained 12 three-pointers and posted an 81-52 victory over the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team on Monday night.

The Cyclones (4-1) scored the game's first eight points before back-to-back three-pointers by Amir Johnson (Philadelphia, Pa./Community Academy) and Naifes Smalls (Philadelphia, Pa./PE&T Charter) tied the score at 13-13.

Centenary answered with 11-straight points and, after Brandywine had sliced the double-figure deficit to six, connected on three-straight triples just before the end of the half en route to building a 15-point edge after 20 minutes.

Brandywine was unable to trim the Cyclone lead under 13 the rest of the way as Centenary connected on five more three-pointers in the second half to run away with the victory.

The Lions, who were held to 30 percent shooting, received eight points from Johnson and Isaiah Lester (Morton, Pa./Ridley). Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) pulled down six rebounds, while Jamil Stokes (Philadelphia, Pa./Creative Learning Academy) blocked four shots and recorded a pair of steals.

Rashaan Spencer connected on seven threes, scoring a game-high 23 points for the Cyclones, who shot 46 percent from the field and held a 45-29 edge on the boards.

Brandywine (1-4) plays for the third time in four days on Tuesday at Penn State Mont Alto in its PSUAC opener at 8:00 pm.
