Ayana Ratliff scores 33 points as women's basketball team falls to defending National champion Mustangs, 91-46 on Sunday afternoon

The Berkeley College women's basketball team dropped its second consecutive contest on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College by a score of 91-46. The contest took place in Auburn, Maine. With the loss, the Knights slipped to a record of 4-8 on the 2017-2018 season, while the defending USCAA Division II National champion Mustangs improved their ledger to 17 victories, and just a single loss.

Despite the loss for the Knights, standout Ayana Ratliff put forth a fantastic effort, as she dropped-in a game-high 33 points to go along with three rebounds and two swatted shots. Ashley Duplan grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds, and Jaiyamoira Myers contributed four points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

In a winning effort for the Mustangs, Central Maine Community College was led by Brooke Reynolds, as she connected on 10 of her 13 attempts from the floor while recording team-highs of 21 points, five steals, and three blocks. She also added seven rebounds, as well. Kristina Blais connected on three shots from behind the three point line to finish with 13 points, a game-high six assists, three rebounds, and two steals, and Natalie Thurber added 16 points.

Central Maine Community College connected on 42.9 percent of its shots from the floor for the afternoon (36-84), while the Knights hit on just 19 of their 68 attempts (27.9). The Mustangs held a dominant 60-31 edge in the rebounding department, while also forcing 27 Berkeley College turnovers.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday evening, as Berkeley will travel to Dix Hills, NY to take on Five Towns College in a non-conference game. The Knights defeated the Sound earlier this season by a score of 78-40 (12/13/17).
