Laker Baseball Splits with Hiwasee College

Austin Baumgardner allowed just one run in game 1 on Friday, but the Lakers couldn't get the offense going in a 1-0 defeat to Hiwassee College.

M. Williams got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He tossed seven innings of shutout ball. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered five hits.

Hiwassee College scored its only run of the game on a passed ball in the sixth inning.

Game 2 took 11 innings, but the Lakers managed to put away Hiwassee College 7-4.

With the score tied at four in the eleventh inning, Tyler Venters reached on an error, scoring Jake Armstrong.

Dan Borchers got the win for the Lakers. He tossed 3 2/3 innings of shutout ball. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Z Helms took the loss for Hiwassee College. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

Wright State Lake Campus jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Isaac Fitzgerald, plating Dillon Bell started the inning off. The Lakers then tacked on more runs when Fitzgerald scored on a two-run home run by Colton Nealeigh.

Hiwassee College answered the Lakers' top inning with four runs of its own in the third. Hiwassee College scored on an RBI single by T. Hicks, a groundout by J. Hale, an RBI single by Watson, and an RBI triple by C Ellis.
