Lions Top Greater Allegheny; Remain Unbeaten In PSUAC Play

MCKEESPORT, Pennsylvania – Freshman Patrick Lutes scored a pair of goals as the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team upped its league record to 4-0 with a 3-1 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference victory at Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday.

Three of Brandywine's four league wins have come on the road and the Lions' offense has produced at least three goals during each match.

Lutes gave the Lions a 1-0 lead midway through the first half off a feed from fellow rookie Patrick O'Neill.

Sophomore Manny Weldemicael doubled the Lions' edge when he converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

Greater Allegheny threatened after pulling within one late in the match, but Lutes took another pass from O'Neill and deposited it in the back of the net, giving Brandywine an insurance goal with just over three minutes to play in regulation.

Brandywine recorded 12 shots on goal, while limiting Greater Allegheny to just five. Senior goalkeeper Nick Previti stopped four shots to earn his third victory of the fall.

The Lions visit Delaware Valley on Monday for a 4:00 pm match.
