Freshman Matt Achille hit two free throws with nine seconds to play, and #6 Penn State York held on to knock off #3 Williamson College of the Trades, 66–65, in the first-round of the USCAA Tournament.

York raced out to a 13–3 lead, with Trent Thomas scoring 9 of the team's opening points. Williamson chipped away at the lead and the teams traded baskets over the final ten minutes of the game, with York prevailing at the end.

York shot better than Williamson from the floor and had a large margin in rebounds, but also committed 25 turnovers in the game to keep Williamson in it. Thomas led all scorers with 27 points, while Lucas Jewell added 13 points and 9 assists.

After the opening round win, Penn State York York moves on to face the #2 seed, Central Penn College on Friday, with a berth in the national championship game at stake. The two teams know each other well, usually playing twice a season. Central Penn got the better of York during the regular season, with an early 91–70 win in November, before managing a thrilling 125–122 triple-overtime win in January.
