Bats Come to Life in Sweep of UC-Clermont

Laker Baseball beat UC-Clermont 9-1 in seven innings, in game one, on Wednesday after a five-run explosion in the sixth inning.

Tyler Venters paced the Lakers at the plate. Venters went 2-3, drove in one and scored three runs.

Alek Hartell picked up the win for the Lakers. Hartell pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out one.

 Boyd was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in six innings, walked four and struck out seven.

The game was never in doubt after the third, as the Lakers scored two runs on a two-run double by Isaac Fitzgerald.

Wright State built upon its lead with two runs in the fourth. A error scored Connor Burr to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Dillon Bell's single, bringing home Venters.

In game two, the Lakers and UC-Clermont traded the lead seven times, but the Lake Campus ended up on top with an 8-6 win in seven innings.

The Lakers finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Wright State went up for good on an RBI single by Derek Waterman off King, bringing home Ronald Acosta. An RBI single by Waterman scored Acosta to give the Lakers the lead for good.

The Lakers would not relinquish the lead as UC-Clermont was unable to weather a three-run sixth inning deficit.

UC-Clermont scored one run in the seventh on a solo home run by Bell. Still, UC-Clermont couldn't catch WSULC Lakers.

The Lakers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Acosta, who went 2-2 against UC-Clermont's pitching. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Connor Burr recorded the win for the Lakers. He pitched one shutout inning. He struck out none, walked two and surrendered no hits.

UC-Clermont scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fifth. In the third, UC-Clermont scored on a passed ball, scoring Riley.

Wright State Lake answered UC-Clermont's top inning with two runs of its own in the third. The Lakers scored on a two-run single by Tristan Becker.
