Mustangs Drop Two to Seawolves

South Portland, ME - The Mustangs dropped a doubleheader to rival SMCC on Saturday 7-3 and 5-0. The sweep gives the Seawolves the #1 seed in next weekends Yankee Conference Final four. The Mustangs will be the #2 seed and play #3 NHTI on Saturday at 1:30pm in the semi finals. The tournament will be held at The Ballpark in Old Orchard. 

In game one, the Mustangs raced out to a 3-0 lead. Brandon Gour had an RBI single that scored Mason Booker. After an intentional walk to Jimmy lead that loaded the bases, Zach Mann came through with a two RBI single that scored Evan Eldridge and Gour. 

The lead quickly evaporated as the Mustangs pitching had a hard time finding the strike zone. The Seawolves added seven unanswered runs to win 7-3. 

Mann, Gour, Kaleb Thompson and Garren Post all had hits for the Mustangs. Mann had two RBI and Gour added another. Trevor Phelps took the loss on the mound. Garret Harvey pitched three innings in relief. 

In game two, the game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Seawolves pushed across three runs they added two more in the fifth to win 5-0. Zach Mann led the Mustangs offense with two hits including a double. Eldridge and Gour also added hits the Mustangs. Derek Roman went the distance for the Mustangs taking the loss. 

"It starts with energy," said head coach Ryan Palmer. "When we are winning and things are going well, our energy level is through the roof. But once it goes the other way, our energy level drastically drops and that simply cant happen."
