ABINGTON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team was dealt its first loss of the season as the Lions dropped a 2-0 decision against former Penn State University Athletic Conference rival Penn State Abington on Wednesday afternoon.
Brandywine, which had opened the season without a loss during its first three games for the first time since 1998, fell to 2-1-1, while Abington upped its record to 3-2.
Abington outshot Brandywine 28-8, putting 11 shots on target, while attempting eight of the match's nine corner kicks. Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) recorded Brandywine's two shots on goal.
Brandon Welden (Essington, Pa./Interboro) made nine saves in goal for the Lions, while Abington net minder Esteban Leon blocked both shots he faced.
Jaden Truskey struck first for Abington, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead during the 31st minute. Abington added an insurance goal midway through the second half when Tomasz Ogonowski found the back of the net.
Brandywine continues its six-game road trip Saturday when it visits another former PSUAC rival, Penn State Altoona, at 1:00 pm.
