Twelve Players Score as Roos Upend Pioneers, 86-44

Canton, NY – Twelve different players scored as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team controlled play throughout on its way to a convincing 86-44 home win against Alfred State College on Saturday.
 
Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) led all players with 18 points and five assists. The sophomore was efficient hitting five of his nine field goal attempts including a 5-for-6 mark from beyond the arc, including multiple NBA range treys. Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) added 12 points, while Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) finished with 10 points and seven boards as each player had a thunderous slam that brought the Roos House crowd to their feet.
 
Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) and Xzavier Fisher (Brooklyn, NY) recorded seven points apiece while combining for 11 boards. SUNY Canton had nine players score five or more points headlined by a career-high six points from center Laquan Robinson (Spring Valley, NY) who knocked down multiple jumpers from the elbow.
 
Alfred State (5-15) scored the opening bucket of the contest on a putback by Robbie Adams. Annorh hit one of his five three-pointers 5:04 into the contest to give the hosts an 11-9 lead that they would hold the duration of the contest. The Roos extended their lead to as many as 29 in the opening half and led 45-18 at intermission.
 
SUNY Canton (12-3) kept the foot on the gas pedal in the second half, while emptying its bench and receiving contributions from all over the roster. The Roo reserves scored 43 points in all in the contest. Tommy Hutson finished with 10 points for Alfred State, while Dan Gormley added nine points.
 
The men's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Tuesday when it hosts cross-town rival St. Lawrence University at 6:00 p.m. in the Roos House.
