Lions Edged By Ravens In First Road Game

ROSEMONT, Pennsylvania -- After averaging 3.0 goals per game in four home contests to start the season, the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer was blanked 2-0 by Rosemont during the Lions' first road game of the fall.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Abbonizio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) stopped 11 of the 13 shots she faced, while Mary Mitcheli (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) registered the lone shot on goal for the Lions during the 77th minute.

Alexa Rhoads' penalty kick put Rosemont on the board at the 38:12 mark of the first half. Just minutes earlier, Abbonizio had stopped a penalty kick try by the Ravens.

Rosemont added an insurance goal to provide for the final margin just over 10 minutes into the seconds half.

Brandywine (3-2, 3-1 PSUAC) returns home Monday to face Trinity (DC) in another non-league match beginning at 4:00 pm.
