Berkeley College New York men's soccer team silenced by Baruch College as offense absent once again

The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team dropped a non-conference game on Wednesday evening, falling to Baruch College by a score of 3-0 at the No. 10 field at Randall's Island. With the loss, the Knights dipped to 5-9 on the season, while the Bearcats improved their record to 8-5-1 on the 2014 campaign.

It was another rough offensive showing for the Knights, who have now been shutout in four of their last five contests. After the teams played 19 scoreless minutes, Baruch College broke through for the game's first goal (at 19:26) when Armando Aguilar received a pass from Dovlet Bayryyv and blasted a ball into the net from about 15 yards out. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the session, and Baruch held a 1-0 lead as the teams broke for halftime.

27 minutes were played in the second session before Baruch's Abraham Anthonio scored his first career intercollegiate goal in the 73rd minute. Marcello Neto fired a shot into the box on a corner kick and the ball found Xhulio Xhaferraj, who collected the ball and zipped it over to Anthonio for the Bearcats' second goal of the evening. Robert Aronov added one final goal for Baruch College in the 88th on an assist from Alexander Marano.

Baruch College netmidners Xavier Carrillo and Jonathan Morales combined for the shutout, which is Baruch College's second this week. Renzo Loaiza took the loss in net for the Knights, allowing three goals on four shots.

The Bearcats held a slight edge in the shot department, recording 11 to Berkeley College's eight. Baruch had four corner kicks to the Knights' three, and the Bearcats were whistled for 15 fouls to Berkeley's eight.

The Knights will return to action on Monday evening as Berkeley faces Culinary Institute in a key Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. Start-time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
