Lions Fall At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine scored just one run in two games, suffering a sweep at the hands of Ursinus on Saturday afternoon, falling 10-1 in game one and 2-0 during game two.

The Bears built a seven-run lead through two innings of game one and tacked on three more scores in the fifth to walk off with the run rule triumph.

Brandywine's lone run came during the fourth inning when Lauryn Geduldick (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) led off with a triple and scored on Julie Foeldes' (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) sacrifice fly.

Zoe Heinke struck out six Lions in 5.0 innings and allowed just three hits to earn the win for Ursinus.

In addition to Geduldick's triple, Alexa Iacono (Wilmington, Del./Concord) recorded a double and Robyn Gannon (Lansdowne, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) reached base twice with a walk and a single.

The Bears tallied single runs during each of the first two innings and Kaitlyn Willis tossed a two-hit shutout during the nightcap.

Danielle Spina (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) registered both of Brandywine's hits, tallying a single in the third and a double in the fifth, but was left stranded on base both times.

Brandywine (17-10) looks to bounce back on Sunday when it closes out the regular season against Penn State Scranton at 2:00 pm.
